Council Tax Reduction: Isle of Anglesey County Council

Mrs F complained that the Isle of Anglesey County Council had not provided a formal response to her complaint about being overcharged £406.98 in Council Tax, which she made to it in April 2023.

The Ombudsman found that the Council had not treated Mrs F’s concerns as a formal complaint due to communication it received from Mrs F. However, she found there to have been significant delays in reaching a decision on her Council Tax bill and the Council had failed to provide any meaningful updates. She said that this caused frustration to Mrs F. She decided to settle the complaint without an investigation.

The Ombudsman sought and gained the Councils agreement to provide Mrs F with an apology and explanation for the delays and complete its investigation into the overpayments within 2 weeks.
