Early resolution
Hywel Dda University Health Board
Miss X complained to Hywel Dda University Health Board about care and treatment provided to her during her 2 pregnancies. Miss X subsequently complained to the Ombudsman about the quality of the Health Board’s response to her complaint about her second pregnancy in that it was incomplete and did not fully address her concerns. She also complained that the Health Board had not provided any response to her complaint about her first pregnancy.
The Ombudsman found that the Health Board had failed to provide a formal response to Miss X in respect of her first pregnancy. She also found that the response provided by the Health Board in respect of Miss X’s second pregnancy did not fully address all issues raised, and that the Health Board had not responded to a follow up letter sent by Miss X, in which she outlined her outstanding concerns.
The Ombudsman contacted the Health Board and in resolution of Miss X’s complaint it agreed to, within 20 working days, provide a formal response to Miss X’s complaint about her first pregnancy together with an apology and a financial redress payment of £250 for the delay encountered, and provide her with a further written response to address the outstanding issues in respect of her second pregnancy.
