Aneurin Bevan University Health Board
Miss X complained that the Health Board had failed to act when, during her pregnancy, she informed it of a family history of haemophilia. She said that this resulted in a lost opportunity for an antenatal diagnosis of haemophilia and subsequent specialist management, which put both herself and her child at risk.
The Ombudsman found that whilst the Health Board had carried out an investigation into Miss X’s care, she had not received a formal complaint response.
The Ombudsman decided to settle the complaint without an investigation and sought the Health Board’s agreement to provide a formal complaint response to Miss X within 30 days.
